Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you use Landis we collect the following categories of personal data:

• Identity & contact — your name and email address, provided when you create an account or sign in.
• Work history — job titles, employers, dates, and bullet-point descriptions you enter in your Master Profile.
• Education — institutions, degrees, fields of study, graduation years, and optional GPA you enter in your Master Profile.
• Skills — skill names and categories you add to your Master Profile.
• Achievements — titles, descriptions, and optional dates of achievements you add to your Master Profile.
• Usage data — anonymous records of CV and cover letter generation events (token counts, success/failure status, timestamps) used for service monitoring and cost management. Usage data is not linked to your identity in any external system.

We do not collect payment information, precise location data, or any data category beyond those listed above.

2. Why we collect it

All data listed above is collected solely to provide the Landis CV and cover letter generation service. Specifically:

• Identity and contact data authenticates your account and allows us to associate your profile with your session.
• Work history, education, skills, and achievement data are the inputs to the AI generation pipeline that produces tailored CVs and cover letters on your behalf.
• Usage data allows us to monitor service reliability and manage API costs; it is never sold or used for advertising.

We do not use your data for profiling, behavioural advertising, or any purpose unrelated to generating your documents.

3. How long we retain it

We retain your personal data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all data associated with it — including your work history, education, skills, achievements, and all generated document history — is permanently deleted from our systems. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

We do not retain backups of deleted account data beyond our standard database backup window, which is a maximum of 7 days. After that window closes, no copy of your data exists in our infrastructure.

4. Your rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right to access — you can export all your data at any time from Settings → Export my data. This downloads a JSON file containing your profile, skills, education, work history, and up to 50 recent generations.
• Right to rectification — you can edit all profile data directly in the app at any time.
• Right to erasure — delete your account from Settings → Danger Zone. Deletion is immediate and removes all your personal data as described in section 3.
• Right to data portability — use the Export my data feature in Settings to receive your data in machine-readable JSON format.
• Right to object — we do not process your data for marketing or profiling, so this right is inherently satisfied for all non-service purposes.

If you wish to exercise any right that cannot be fulfilled through the app, or to raise a complaint, please contact us at the address in section 5. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) at ico.org.uk.

5. Third parties

We use Anthropic's Claude API to generate CVs and cover letters. Your profile data and job description are sent to Anthropic for inference. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their API. We do not share your data with any other third party.

Our infrastructure runs on Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel (hosting). Both providers process data in accordance with UK GDPR.
