Landis

Browser Extension Privacy Policy

Effective date: 18 July 2026

1. What the extension reads

The Landis browser extension (“Landis — CV Fit Score”) reads text from the web page you are currently viewing, and only when you explicitly ask it to. This happens in two ways:

  • Automatic extraction on supported job pages — on Indeed job-view pages, the extension reads the visible job description text so it can be compared against your CVs. This only runs when you open the extension popup and choose to capture the page; it does not run in the background or without your action.
  • Text you select — on any other page (including LinkedIn), you can select job description text yourself and use the extension's “Capture selection for Landis” option to send that selection for comparison.

The extension does not read passwords, payment details, personal messages, or any content on pages you have not chosen to capture from.

2. What the extension sends

When you run a comparison, the extension sends:

  • The captured job description text (from automatic extraction or your own selection).
  • The CV(s) you choose from your existing Landis CV Vault — already stored in your Landis account, not newly collected by the extension.

This data is sent to Landis's existing compare-cv backend (the same service the Landis web and mobile apps use) over an authenticated, encrypted connection, using your own Landis sign-in. The extension also stores your Landis session (an authentication token) locally in the browser, using Chrome's extension storage, so you do not have to sign in on every use.

3. What the extension does not do

  • It does not run automatically or in the background. Extraction and comparison only happen when you open the popup and take an action.
  • It does not scrape, crawl, or collect data across multiple pages or tabs — only the single page you are viewing when you trigger it.
  • It does not track your browsing history or activity on sites it is not being used on.
  • It does not sell your data, and does not share it with any third party other than the processors described in section 4, which already process the same categories of data for the Landis web and mobile apps.

4. Where the data goes

Captured job description text and your CV Vault contents are sent to Landis's Supabase project (database and authentication) and, for scoring, to Anthropic's Claude API — the same infrastructure used by the Landis web and mobile apps described in the main Landis Privacy Policy. A successful comparison is recorded as a row in your comparison history, visible from both the web and mobile apps, and subject to the same retention and deletion rules described there (section 3).

5. Your rights and control

You can sign out of the extension at any time, which removes the locally stored session token from the browser. Comparisons run from the extension appear in your Landis account history and can be managed — and your account and all associated data deleted — exactly as described in sections 3 and 4 of the main Landis Privacy Policy, which also covers your UK GDPR rights.
